Forget Lionel Messi. Cristiano Ronaldo becomes first player ever to achieve this hat-trick record

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first player in men’s international football to score 10 hat-tricks for his country.

The 36 year old forward scored a hat-trick in Portugal’s 5-0 rout of Luxembourg, to complete his 58th career hat-trick.

Ronaldo fired his ninth international hat-trick back in 2019, against Lithuania, which took him level with Sweden’s Sven Rydell (1923-1932) for most hat-tricks in international football.

Ronaldo’s hat-trick against Luxembourg means he has now scored 115 international goals for Portugal.

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes also scored for Portugal in the 5-0 thrashing of Luxembourg.
