Cristiano Ronaldo shames critics in his second Manchester United debut

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has started his second Manchester United spell in a massive way. A debut brace in a 4-1 victory at Old Trafford gave the United faithful something to cheer about and also shut the mouths of critics.

Many had doubted if the signing of Ronaldo will make any impact for the club in the title race as he’s already 36-year-old.

Former Aston Villa forward Gabby Agbonlahor had said he didn’t believe Cristiano Ronaldo will be enough for Manchester United to win the Premier League title.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Agbonlahor said: “Just to attract a massive signing like that shows how Manchester United are trying to win trophies this season. He’ll have a huge impact on that dressing room.

“But will Cristiano Ronaldo be enough to win Man United the Premier League title? No, I don’t think it will.”

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher had even said the signing could be a negative one for the club and took a dig at Manchester United legends who were happy about the deal.

“I’ve never seen so many ex-Manchester United players almost looking love-struck by the sign of Cristiano Ronaldo so it’s a huge moment for them,” former Liverpool defender Carragher told CBS.

“He is one of the greatest players of all time, no doubt, but I actually think it may have a negative effect on Manchester United.”

Ronaldo has now shut the mouths of critics and doubters with a debut brace on his return to Old Trafford.

For the first goal, he showed great awareness to hit home rebound goal. For the second goal, it was a fine finish from the Portuguese as he restored Manchester United’s lead.

It was indeed a fine Manchester United performance as Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard added two wonderful goals to give the Old Trafford faithful something to cheer about.
