Manchester United have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will wear the iconic no.7 shirt after returning to Old Trafford.
Ronaldo wore the no.7 shirt in his first spell at the club before leaving for Real Madrid and it has now been confirmed that Ronaldo will have it on his back once again.
Ronaldo inherits the number from Edinson Cavani, who wore the shirt last season and in our away win at Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.
With Ronaldo getting the no.7 shirt, Cavani will now wear the no.21 shirt, the same number our prolific striker wears for the Uruguayan national team.
There were doubts whether Ronaldo would wear his customary jersey, but upon his confirmation as the new No. 7, Ronaldo moved to thank Cavani for the role he played.
Reacting to confirmation of the news, Ronaldo said: “I wasn’t sure if it would be possible to have the number seven shirt again. So I would like to say a huge thank you to Edi [Cavani] for this incredible gesture.”
