Manchester United have been urged by fans and ex players of the club to sign a top central midfielder this summer, and one of the names that the club is keen on signing is West Ham’s Declan Rice.
West Ham have reportedly slapped a price tag of £100m on the 22-year-old which has seemingly deterred suitors from making a bid.
According to the Times, Rice has rejected a new deal to extend his stay with West Ham and he’s annoyed at the club’s stance on his future.
The 22-year-old’s current deal expires in 2025 and the club has the option of extending his contract by a further 12 months.
A new deal for Rice with West Ham will see him get higher wages, but he’s not keen on making a decision that will make him trapped.
It is claimed that Rice is frustrated with the handling of his future and feels that West Ham are trying to price him out of a move elsewhere.
Manchester United and Chelsea are the two clubs to be linked with the Hammers midfielder, and it seems United are more in need of a top central midfielder than Chelsea.
