Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has told Paul Pogba the bitter truth about his reported exit from the club.
For the past three years, Pogba has been linked with a move abroad, with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus all believed to be linked with the Manchester United midfielder at some point.
However, the transfer rumours this summer was focused on PSG and Pogba. But PSG’s capture of Lionel Messi has cooled down any talks of an exit for Pogba.
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has now told Pogba that his chances of winning the Champions League outside Manchester United are very slim, as Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona don’t seem strong enough to win it at the moment.
Speaking about Paul Pogba’s future, Rio Ferdinand said on his FIVE YouTube channel: “It could be his last season if he doesn’t re-sign and it looks like it is going that way a little bit.
“But if he smells success, and a winning period, there is something telling me that he will want to be a part of it.
“That is all he has come for. When I speak to Paul, all he talks about is wanting to win. [He says] ‘I want to win the Champions League. The Premier League is what I want to win’.
“He has got a burning desire to do that for Manchester United. He grew up here as a kid. He wants to win, he wants to be known as one of the guys that was part of a winning team, a winning era.”
Rio Ferdinand added: “He won’t rest easy. If he walks out at Manchester United, I know for a fact Paul Pogba will look back and go; ‘I didn’t win the Champions League. I didn’t win the Premier League. That is not what I came back for’.”
