Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood blew everyone away with his stunning performance against Leeds United over the weekend.
Greenwood was among the scorers as United defeated Leeds United 5-1, and the goal from Greenwood was phenomenal.
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has reserved massive praise for Greenwood and has even likened him to club legend Wayne Rooney when he was at a similar age. However, Ferdinand points out that while Greenwood is learning the trade at his young age, Wayne Rooney was also primed as a top player even as a teenager.
Speaking on his official YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand said: “I saw some of the stuff in the Leeds game where I know some of the coaches and people behind the scenes at Manchester United are saying this isn’t a surprise.
“It has just been waiting to happen in the first team and his body is catching up. Mason Greenwood knows what he needs to do, but Wayne Rooney when he came into the first team was a man already.
“You can see with Mason, he has built into that frame of being a first team player and at the weekend. Some of the movement, the ball retention, shrugging people off and the finish was a joke.
“He ran half the pitch and I always say to be able to run half the pitch and finish like that, to do something like that… If he had gone to the Euros, he would have had a massive impact off the bench. He just knows how to score goals.”
