Manchester United beat Burnley in closed door friendly

Manchester United have followed the victory over Leeds United with a 3-1 win over Burnley.

Manchester United played Burnley in a behind-closed doors friendly at Old Trafford and new signing Jadon Sancho was in action.

The game was designed to help boost the match fitness of players, and the likes of Tom Heaton, Diogo Dalot, Eric Bailly, Brandon Williams, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard were handed starting appearances alongside Harry Maguire and Anthony Martial who also featured against Leeds.

Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood and Hannibal Mejbri also got some game time as well. Phil Jones who hasn’t played for the club for over a year was in on the action.

Sancho who had a cameo appearance against Leeds, as he featured in the last 15 minutes of the game got some more playing time.

However, there was no playing time for Raphael Varane who was unveiled on Saturday.

Varane only resumed training with the Manchester United squad on Monday, and will continue to train before he gets back to action.

Maguire and Lingard got on the score sheet during the first half, with Fred scoring in the second half.
