Manchester United came third in the league two seasons ago, as Liverpool were eventual champions.

Last season, United progressed to second in the league, and finished 12 points off Manchester City.

United are expected to make progress this season, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has strengthened his squad with the addition of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has now backed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to put the pressure on City and Liverpool this season in the title race.

“Manchester United are definitely title contenders,” Saha said old Gentingbet.

“They are a huge club and will certainly close the gap this season.

“They’ve signed some terrific players so will be confident straight away and hopefully find their form quickly. Last season they didn’t start well, so hopefully they can do better and put the pressure on the likes of Man City and Liverpool.”
