Manchester United have now confirmed the signing of Liverpool youngster Ethan Ennis.
The 16-year-old broke into the U18s setup at Kirkby last season and scored three goals across their run to the FA Youth Cup final.
However, he rejected the offer of a scholarship at Liverpool this summer and was rather keen to join Manchester United.
The highly-rated midfielder took to social media last month to announce that he has agreed terms with Manchester United.
“I am delighted to announce that I have signed for Manchester United,” Ennis wrote on Instagram, alongside a picture of himself posing with the United shirt at Old Trafford.
“Grateful for this opportunity, can’t wait to get started.”
Ennis held talks with Chelsea earlier this summer and visited their Cobham training base but opted to sign for United.
United will now pay Liverpool a little compensation for their youngster.
