Manchester United reached agreement with Real Madrid for defender Raphael Varane a fortnight ago. However, the deal hasn’t been officially announced by the club.
Paperwork, visa and quarantine have all contributed in elongating the deal for Varane, but all that is now in the past.
Varane completed his medical with the club on Wednesday afternoon at Carrington, and an official announcement is imminent.
Manchester United are now expected to unveil the new signing before the weekend clash against Leeds.
There were hopes that Varane would be ready for the opening clash against Leeds United, but that won’t be the case anymore.
According to reports, Varane’s fitness is still to be assessed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and the Frenchman may only be able to sit on the bench for the Leeds game.
