Not many clubs can sign Lionel Messi, but Manchester United definitely should be in the mix of clubs that can sign one of the greatest players in the game’s history.
We never thought we’d see a Barcelona without Lionel Messi, but it has eventually happened as the Catalan club has decided to part ways with the Argentine superstar.
Barcelona have come out to announce that Messi won’t be staying with them next season, as they cannot afford his wages.
Messi is now a free agent, but who can really afford him?
Manchester City and PSG have been touted as favourites for Messi, but we know that it’s not certain as no one really believed that a player of that calibre would be available for free on the market.
It’s now a game of who can afford to pay Messi’s wages, with the football clime yet to recover from the impact of Covid-19.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said anything can still happen in the transfer market and that any signing would be a bonus.
“Anything from now is a bonus. I have to say that, with the two signings we’ve got, we’ve strengthened where we wanted to strengthen,” Solskjaer told the media.
“Let’s see what happens. You never know in football. Anything can happen, ins and outs.”
Surely, Manchester United fans will welcome a bonus in Lionel Messi.
