Manchester United tried to sign Erling Haaland before his move to Borussia Dortmund in January 2020.
Haaland was a teenager at the time, and sought a move to a less demanding side where his talent will be nurtured before making a big step up.
One-and-a-half-year later, Haaland has become the most in demand striker in Europe, and he’s wanted by Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United and many of Europe’s biggest clubs.
However, only Chelsea have pushed to sign him this summer, and he’s valued around £150m by the German side.
Haaland will be available for a cheaper price next summer, with his release clause believed to be around £66m.
Edinson Cavani’s time at Old Trafford will be up by next summer, and United will move in for Haaland. And according to reputable reporter Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have the best edge due to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s relationship with Haaland.
“Next summer will be an open situation with many clubs,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.
“I receive many questions about Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and many other clubs.
“I think that all these clubs will be in the race next summer. So we can mention, of course, Manchester United, the strong relationship with Ole (Gunnar Solskjaer).”
Haaland has a good relationship with Solskjaer, having worked with him at Molde previously. The great part is that he also has a good relationship with new signing Jadon Sancho, and they could reunite at the club next season.
