Bayern Munich boss gives update on star player who has refused to sign a new contract amid links with Manchester United

The summer has so far been great for Manchester United. United have signed up goalkeeper Tom Heaton, winger Jadon Sancho and defender Raphael Varane.

It seems Manchester United might not yet be done in the transfer market, as United are also looking at signing a midfielder and have been linked with Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka.

Bayern signed Goretzka on a free transfer from Schalke in 2018, and he has just one year remaining in his deal with Bayern.

The German champions are keen for the 26-year-old to sign a new deal, but he has so far refused to sign.

Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann has revealed that he has talked to Goretzka about his plans for the midfielder and want him to remain at Bayern. But so far, he’s not certain if he has been able to win over the Manchester United target.

He said: “There are several topics involved when it comes to discussing a contract extension.

“I’ll continue to focus on the sports side of things and show him he can be one of the most dangerous midfielders in Europe. He has potential to get even better.
