According to Goal, Manchester United are close to reaching an agreement to sign Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
While Manchester United and Real Madrid were far apart in reaching an agreement at the start of the week, both clubs aren’t far apart, with a deal now expected to take place for between €45m (£39/$53m) and €55m (£47m/$65m).
Varane has been one of Man Utd’s top summer transfer priorities since the Red Devils completed a deal to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
Varane has just one year left on his Real Madrid contract and rejected a recent contract offer from Real Madrid after Sergio Ramos left the Spanish side for PSG.
Varane has reportedly agreed to join Manchester United on a five-year deal and is waiting for both clubs to reach an agreement.
Varane is keen to leave Madrid as a ‘gentleman’ out of respect for the club and president Florentino Perez. He has joined up with the team for pre-season as expected but did not travel to Glasgow on Sunday for a friendly with Rangers.
