Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is set to leave the Los Blancos and seal a much talked about move to Manchester United.
It’s a surprise that Real Madrid will lose their two key centre-backs in one summer, with Sergio Ramos having sealed a move to PSG.
According to reputable Spanish outlet Diario AS, Varane never really intended to leave Real Madrid this summer but felt ‘pushed’ out of the club despite signalling his intention to sign a new contract at Santiago Bernabeu.
It’s even claimed that the Frenchman’s representatives reached out to new manager Carlo Ancelotti to see whether the centre-back had a future in Madrid.
Meanwhile, AS has reported that a final agreement for Varane could come in a matter of hours with a fee between €50m and €55m likely to be agreed between the two clubs.
AS has also reported that Varane does not want to begin his pre-season with Carlo Ancelotti’s side in Valdebebas and would rather head straight to England to begin work with his new teammates at Manchester United.
