Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has been linked with a Manchester United exit this summer after just four Premier League starts in an underwhelming debut campaign at Old Trafford.
At first, reports had claimed that Real Madrid were interested in the Netherlands international, and now Barcelona are also being linked with the 24-year-old.
According to transfer news from Mundo Deportivo (h/t IB Times), Barcelona are willing to offer Samuel Umtiti in a swap deal for Van de Beek.
However, the report suggests that Barca want a loan deal rather than an outright sale due to their tight financial situation at the moment.
Van de Beek’s situation is a bizarre one having made just four Premier League starts last season, and 36 appearances all season, of which 21 came off the bench.
Manchester United do not really seem interested in a deal to sell Van de Beek, having spent a whopping £40m on his signature.
Umtiti also doesn’t seem to a be at his best now. The 27-year-old featured prominently during his first couple of seasons at Camp Nou, playing a key role in the Catalan giants’ triumphant 2017-18 La Liga campaign. However, the past 2-3 seasons haven’t gone well for him as he has spent a lot of the time injured.
