The 2021-22 season promises to be a massive battle between the top sides for the Premier League title, and many are wondering who will end up as champions.
Manchester United won the title with relative ease last season, but the coming season won’t be an easy one, and Paul Merson believes that it could be one of the toughest in recent memory.
Compared to other leagues around the world, predicting the winner is quite an easy task, but not the Premier League. The competition in the league every season is intense, and at times, the league is won and lost even before the start of the season, as the summer transfer decisions play a huge role in determining the fate of teams.
Ahead of the 2021-22 season, pundits and analysts are looking ahead of the new campaign and pondering who will end up as champions.
Paul Merson believes that the usual suspects Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea will fight for the title and he also believes it would be a big battle to win the league next season.
“As we edge closer to the 2021-22 edition of the Premier League, I strongly believe this could be one of the tightest ones in recent memory,” Merson told Sportskeeda.
“Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea can all win the title – that’s a four-way battle for the Premier League crown and I don’t expect any of them to run away with it by a margin of double-digit points.”
He added: “There’s a big gulf of class between the top four sides in the Premier League and the rest, so the title race could boil down to who wins the mini-league between Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea.”
