Manchester United now seem reluctant in letting Jesse Lingard leave the club after a phenomenal spell at West Ham last season.
Lingard had struggled to perform and was an outcast in the team under the Norwegian. However, he was one of the stars of the West Ham side as they sealed a remarkable top six finish under David Moyes.
West Ham are hopeful of signing Lingard on a permanent deal, but frowned at the £30m fee requested by United.
Surprisingly, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now admitted that he’d keep the 28-year-old for next season.
After the game against Derby, Solskjaer said: “He was one of the positives. He’s a Manchester United player and he wants to fight for his place.
“He’s come back bright, confident and with lots of energy. I think everyone saw what he did at the end of last season with West Ham.
“He’s still in my plans. I expect him at Man Utd at the start of the season.”
