Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is set to cut short his holidays and resume pre-season training with the rest of the Manchester United squad.
De Gea was with Spain for the Euros but didn’t feature in any game as Luis Enrique preferred Unai Simon to him.
Having also ended the domestic season behind Dean Henderson at United, The Sun report that De Gea is desperate to reassert himself for club and country.
All players involved in the Euros were granted at least three weeks off, but De Gea has decided to return after just two weeks and will be back in training next week.
Dean Henderson who dropped out of the Euro 2020 squad through injury is back in training ahead of the new season and also new goalkeeper signing Tom Heaton.
De Gea understands that competition for places is high, and he wants to seal a return to the squad and fight for his shirt ahead of the new campaign.
