Manchester United will start the new Premier League season with a home game against Leeds United, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be aiming to start the season with a victory.
It would interesting to see the squad that Solskjaer will name for the opening game of the season, as a huge number of his squad would have only just returned from their holidays after competing in Euro 2020.
The likes of Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford and new signing Jadon Sancho who reached the final of the Euros will return in early August, and would miss pre-season action. Fred is also part of this group having reached the final of the Copa America.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that the Euro 2020 stars won’t be involved in the first couple of games.
Solskjaer explained: “Players, you know, need some downtime and some rest. Of course some need less or more than others and, when you’ve got to the final like Fred, Harry, Luke and Marcus have done, you have to sacrifice maybe a week while the other can get up to a month, while we’ve had five weeks with the ones who have started already.
“I think everybody will be fresh for the new season. Last season, as we know, was a long one and a challenging one and I can’t wait for it to start.”
