Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is keen to raid the Premier League, to strengthen his Roma side since being appointed as the new manager of the Serie A side.
Mourinho who guided his side to beat Serie D side Montecatini 10-0 in his first pre-season game has already snapped up goalkeeper Rui Patricio from Wolves.
According to reports in Italy, Roma had made an approach for United left-back Alex Telles. The 28-year-old joined United in a £15.4 million deal from Porto last October but had limited playing time due to the red hot form of Luke Shaw.
Telles made only nine Premier League appearances last season, and is now being targeted by Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho plans to sign Telles on loan as cover for the injured Leonardo Spinazzola for the remainder of the season. The Roma left-back will be sidelined for several months after rupturing his Achilles during Italy’s Euro 2020 campaign.
Meanwhile, reports claim that Manchester United have turned down Roma’s approach to sign Alex Telles on loan.
According to Sky Sports Italia, United have shut down any idea of allowing the Brazilian full-back to leave Old Trafford on a temporary deal. United are believed to be more interested in a permanent offer than in a temporary deal.
