Manchester United player named unofficial best player of Euro 2020 according to stats

Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was named the official ‘player of the Euro 2020 tournament’ by UEFA, as he played a key role in goal to help the Azzurris become champions of Europe.

Meanwhile, stats guru WhoScored had revealed that Manchester United defender Harry Maguire was the best player in Euro 2020.

The Manchester United skipper was a doubt for the competition and even missed the first game as he only made a return from injury. But the 28-year-old displayed a massive level of confidence, composure, charisma and leadership in the heart of the Three Lions defence that saw them keep a clean sheet from the group stage until the semi-final.

According to the stats by WhoScored, Maguire’s 7.62 rating by WhoScored was the highest in the tournament of all the players who featured in Euro 2020.

Meanwhile, Opta Stats also revealed that Maguire won 84% of his aerials duels at Euro 2020 (21/25), the best winning percentage since 1980 for any player involved in 25+ duels.
