Indeed one can never say never in the world of football, and former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has just confirmed that.

Mourinho has since been appointed as the new manager of Italian side Roma, and the Portuguese will be acquainted with two former players he knew from his time at Old Trafford.

Chris Smalling and Henrikh Mkhitaryan both played under Mourinho at Manchester United during his spell in charge from 2016-18, and he has now gone on to meet them in Rome.

Mourinho posted a photo of himself and the duo on Instagram with the caption, ‘Football is a small world’ and the two ex United players didn’t seem to be having a pleasant training session with their old boss.

Smalling and Mkhitaryan didn’t have the best of relationships with Mourinho at the time, especially Mkhitaryan who fell out with Jose before leaving for Arsenal.

One can only wonder what their fate would be in the 2021-22 season.
