If fans are asked who Manchester United’s fastest player is, many will predict Daniel James, who can often be seen charging down the wing at breakneck speeds, leaving defenders in his wake.

However, Manchester United’s fastest player in the 2020/21 season is actually Marcus Rashford.

According to Opta, Rashford clocked the four fastest times for Manchester United last season, coincidentally in the two games against Chelsea and two matches with Leeds United.

Rashford’s speed of 36.26 km/h in the game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge was the fastest by any Manchester United player last season.

Rashford’s speed of 35.28 km/h against Leeds at Old Trafford is Manchester United’s second fastest. His speed of 35.19 km/h against Leeds away from home is United’s third fastest and the speed of 35.09 km/h against Chelsea at Old Trafford is United’s fourth fastest.

Mason Greenwood was his closest challenger, taking fifth spot after a sprint of 35.04 in the home clash with Arsenal last year.

The other players timed with the quickest speed in an individual Premier League match for the Reds were Tim Fosu-Mensah, Eric Bailly, Luke Shaw, Brandon Williams, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Anthony Elanga.

Wan-Bissaka actually came out on top on five occasions but Rashford ruled supreme as he was the top man in 23 of the games!
