It couldn’t have gone worse for Manchester United star Donny van de Beek, as he has now been ruled out of the European Championship through injury following a nightmare debut season at Manchester United.
Van de Beek was set to feature for the Netherlands at this summer’s Euros, but an injury has forced him to withdraw from Frank de Boer’s Oranje squad just five days out from their opening Euro 2020 fixture against Ukraine.
Van de Beek had limited play time in his first season at Manchester United and he was hoping to impress at the Euros, but the midfielder’s poor fortunes continued on international duty, as he has gotten injured before the tournament proper.
The Dutch national team have released a statement, thus: “Van de Beek has to let the European Championship pass by. The midfielder is struggling with an injury.
“As a result, he is not available in time for EURO 2020. Frank de Boer will not call a replacement for Van de Beek.
“Get well soon, Donny!”
We wish the Dutchman well and a quick recovery ahead of next season.
