Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has claimed the Liverpool players were motivated to beat Manchester United after the Red Devils rested most of our players in the 2-1 defeat to Leicester City.

Speaking to beIN Sports after Liverpool’s 4-2 win against Manchester United, Mohamed Salah said: “I wasn’t surprised of United players’ intensity in the game.

“They rested most of their players the last game to play this one and keep us out of top 4 places but this motivated us to win.

“I hope [today’s goal] is a sign to continue scoring regularly against United. I was unlucky, but the most important thing that we won.”

With Manchester United having to play Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted to rest 10 players for Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat to Leicester City.
