Despite just being at the club for over a year, Bruno Fernandes has proven to be at a very high level, and could easily be called the best Manchester United signing since the end of Sir Alex Ferguson era.
Bruno Fernandes scored a brace and assisted two goals as Manchester United defeated Roma 6-2 on Thursday night, and it has taken his tally to 26 goals for the season. He also has 16 assists to his name.
Interestingly, the Portuguese has now scored the same number of goals as Manchester United’s record signing Paul Pogba, with the two midfielders tied at 38 goals. Bruno Fernandes had even gone ahead of Pogba, but the Frenchman scored the 5th goal against Roma to match up with his midfield partner.
Bruno Fernandes is now up to 42 combined goals and assists for the season, but he hasn’t still given up. He has revealed that he wants to surpass his record of 32 goals and 20 assists last season.
“I scored 32 at Sporting so I expect to pass that mark, my target every time is to get better, my target is to win trophies but for myself my target is to improve every season,” Fernandes told MUTV.
“I think if I score 32 goals in one season I can do better. I know it’s a big number but why not, if you dream about that and fight for that you can do it, so I will keep trying to be better and better and also give more assists, my best season for assists was 20 and I have to reach that level again.”
