Ed Woodward had never been loved by the Manchester United fans, and the departing club vice-chairman has had a negative image from the fans at Old Trafford for a long time now.
United fans will now be glad that Woodward has resigned from his post.
The 49-year-old will vacate the top operational role in the Old Trafford boardroom at the end of year.
Woodward took the decision to resign amid huge controversy surrounding the club’s involvement in the proposed European Super League.
According to reports, Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire confronted Woodward over his role in United’s involvement in the European Super League, and it didn’t go down well with the club’s vice-chairman. Reports claim that the fracas also led to his decision to resign.
Manchester United fans have taken to social media to hail Maguire for acting as a true captain.
