Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been urged to sign Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.

This is according to Robbie Savage who believes the Argentine striker is the best foreign player of the Premier League era.

Aguero will leave Manchester City when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Savage told The Mirror: “At 32, Sergio Aguero has got a couple of seasons left in the tank, so if Manchester United’s new director of football John Murtough wants to make waves, there’s a sure-fire way of doing it. For me, Aguero is the best foreign player of the Premier League era.

“If United came calling for his services, why wouldn’t he jump at the chance? He would be able to stay in the area, knowing United will offer him Champions League football, and he would give them a cutting edge in the box that has sometimes been missing when visiting teams have sat deep at Old Trafford.

“United have been down the road of bringing in experienced forwards before, and I would regard both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani as signings worthy of the shirt. Fans in the red heartlands of Manchester would love it if the striker with the best minutes-per-goal ratio in Premier League history.

“I don’t honestly believe United will seize the day and make it happen – but why shouldn’t it happen? For all their pulling power, there are no guarantees United will be able to sign Erling Haaland or Harry Kane this summer. Why hesitate when the greatest Premier League finisher of all is out there?”
