Manchester United are keen on signing a new centre-back this summer, as the duo of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof haven’t done enough over the past two seasons.
United have been targeting Villarreal defender Pau Torres, and the Spaniard is reportedly open to a move to Manchester United this summer.
According to reports by the Manchester Evening News, the 24-year-old has a release clause of €60million in his current deal at El Madrigal but Villarreal could consider selling for less if offered a player-plus-cash deal.
Manchester United currently have five centre-backs in the first team, and could easily come up with a cash plus player deal.
Meanwhile, United are believed to be monitoring the situation of Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, and the Spanish club could be willing to sell if he doesn’t renew his contract, rather than lose him for free at the end of next season.
