De Gea vs Dean Henderson: Premier League icon backs one to be first choice

Manchester United are in a good place, in the sense that the club currently has two top goalkeepers fighting for the number one spot.

Second choice goalkeeper Dean Henderson has impressed in the absence of David De Gea who had travelled to be with his partner, following the birth of their child.

Premier League icon Alan Shearer has hailed the ability of Dean Henderson, and has backed him to be the new number one.

Shearer said according to Manchester Evening News: “He deserves his spot, there’s no doubt about that, Dean Henderson. De Gea has made too many errors, the time was right to put him in and he certainly hasn’t disappointed. He’s kept seven clean sheets in his last eight games.

“He made the error a couple of weeks ago against Milan, but he’s recovered well from that. He’s been out on loan, did very well there, made the decision to come back, signed a long-term contract and there’s no doubt he deserves to be playing.”

This debate has been going on since last season when Dean Henderson was doing well on loan at Sheffield United. But do you think it’s time for De Gea to step down?
