Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard, currently on loan at West Ham, has been included in the England squad for the first time since 2018.
He will be will one of the five Manchester United players in the latest England squad, along with Dean Henderson, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford.
Lingard has impressed since joining West Ham on loan after struggling to get game time at Manchester United and he insists his resurgence is down to ‘hard work and belief’.
Reacting to his England call-up, Jesse Lingard wrote on Twitter: “Buzzing to be recalled back into the England squad after 2 years.
“It’s been a long journey, very mentally challenging, but full of hard work and belief. Thank you to everyone who believed in me, this is just the start!”
The 28-year-old has scored 4 goals and provided 2 assists in 9 games for West Ham.
