New UEFA rulings permit players on loan to face their parent club, and this afforded Diogo Dalot the opportunity to face Manchester United.
Dalot struggled for game time for Manchester United after sealing a move from Porto in 2018, and moved on loan to AC Milan, where he has been very impressive for the Serie A giants who are fighting for the title this season.
Dalot had a good time on his return to Old Trafford to face his parent club, but he admitted after the game that it was a weird feeling for him.
“It was a mixed feeling to be honest with you,” said the Portuguese star. “When I first walked the pitch before the game I’m used to being on this side. It’s a mixed feeling.
“I miss this place as well. I have great memories here with this club but today I was fighting on the other side for this badge.
“This is who I am. I want to be improving everyday, I think I have a lot to improve..
“This is something that needs game time. This season I am having what I need and it’s fantastic.”
