Many Manchester United fans would have harboured hope to see Marcus Rashford start against AC Milan on Thursday, but such hopes have been dashed after Olé Gunnar Solskjaer’s press conference on Wednesday, ahead of the first leg Europa League round of 16 clash at Old Trafford on Thursday.
Rashford had a good game against Manchester City, but the 23-year-old left the pitch injured, as he hurt his ankle with 20 minutes left of the game.
There were fears that Rashford would have ligament damage, but after undergoing a scan on Monday, it was revealed that he has not suffered such extensive damage.
Speaking ahead of facing AC Milan, Solskjaer has now ruled out Rashford from the clash and hints that he may also be absent from the weekend’s game against West Ham.
“I don’t think he’ll be available for tomorrow. He didn’t train today,” Solskjaer said in his press conference on Wednesday.
“Normally [I’m] very optimistic but think he is out of tomorrow night and a doubt for the weekend.”
