Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes is reportedly refusing to sign a new Manchester United contract to extend his stay at the club.

According to The Sun, the 26 year old Portuguese playmaker has demanded assurances about Manchester United’s plans before he commits to a new long-term deal.

Fernandes currently earns around £100,000 a week at Manchester United and the club is keen on doubling his wages to extend his stay at the club but that will see him earn less than David de Gea, who earns £375,000 and Paul Pogba, who earns £290,000.

Fernandes is one of the lowest paid of the regular first-team stars, having signed a £100,000-a-week 5½-year deal, which has the option of a further 12 months but the club is keen to reward him for his excellent form by doubling his wages and boosting it with incentives.

Despite being happy at Manchester United, Fernandes wants commitment from the board that they are ready to do what it takes to turn Manchester United into title winners again.
