Many expected Manchester City’s impressive form to continue against Manchester United, as Pep Guardiola had won 21 games on the bounce in all competitions.
However, it was United who carried the day with goals from Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw.
Olé Gunnar Solskjaer knows how to get the better of Guardiola tactically, especially at the Etihad Stadium, and he pulled off his tricks yet again on Sunday.
Speaking after the game, a disappointed Pep Guardiola, blamed his side’s poor start to the game, as the reason for the defeat.
The Manchester City boss said: “We played good, apart from the first 10 minutes, and unfortunately we could not be clinical, and congratulations United.
“Today we lost, and it will be the news. But the news is 21 victories in a row. This is the news. This result is going to help us a lot to understand how difficult it is. We knew it.
“But sometimes you have to not win one game to realise, and the next one is important. There’s still a lot of games to play. We have to start to win again, and the next game we have an opportunity to do it.”
