Pep Guardiola has built a star studded squad at Manchester City, and United’s city rivals are close to becoming champions, as they are currently 14 points ahead of Man United in second.
Bruno Fernandes has been a big influence since signing up for Manchester United, but he has also been criticised when things don’t go well for the team, especially in big games.
Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has cut Bruno Fernandes some slack, and he believes that he’s the only Manchester United player who can walk into the Manchester City team as well as any of the Big Six. According to Sutton, Bruno Fernandes can’t do it alone.
“Apparently Bruno Fernandes doesn’t turn up against the Big Six,” Sutton told the Daily Mail.
“Seven games, one goal, no assists. But Manchester United’s masterful midfielder can’t do it all on his own.
“Fernandes has had an Eric Cantona-esque impact on the club and is the only United player who would walk into this City team.
“That is why he is scrutinised more than anyone else but he needs help. It cannot be that if Fernandes doesn’t turn up, United don’t turn up.
“He has scored once in those seven games – a penalty in the 6-1 defeat by Spurs – but that’s one more than his team-mates. Fernandes could do with stepping up, but so could the rest!”
