Gary Neville has said that the day will come, when Olé Gunnar Solskjaer has to choose between David De Gea and Dean Henderson.
De Gea was absent during United’s 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Wednesday night.
Henderson gave a good account of himself again, earning a clean sheet, and making a last ditch save to ensure United didn’t lose the game.
Solskjaer was full of praise for the Henderson after the game, and Neville believes the 23 year old is proving a good challenger for United’s number one position.
“I always thought when I played for United that the number one spot would probably be the most scrutinised position in English football and Dean Henderson’s chances are coming more and more,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“You’d think in the next few months that the day of reckoning will come when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will decide whether he is the Manchester United number one of the future.”
Henderson has a contract with United until 2025, but the goalkeeper could leave at the end of the season, having insisted he won’t play backup to De Gea, with Chelsea and Tottenham believed to be interested.
