Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has defended Anthony Martial from criticisms due to his poor form for the club this season.
The Norwegian insists the Frenchman is working hard enough in training to overcome his difficult spell and also believes the player has the quality and class to return back to top form.
When asked about his thoughts on Anthony Martial’s performances as of late, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “Anthony knows what we want, and he is working really hard to do well for the team and that’s what is pleasing me the most when I see him every day in training.
“He is not going to sit down and wait for things to happen, he knows he will have to make it happen himself and we encourage him, we coach him, and we know he has going this quality and class.
“Everyone goes through difficult patches from time to time and I think we saw again tonight, he is working hard and that is the main thing.”
The Frenchman has now gone 5 games without scoring for the Red Devils with his last goal coming in the 9-0 win against Southampton.
With Edinson Cavani dealing with injury issues, Martial might have to lead the line in Manchester United’s clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
