Manchester United boss Olé Gunnar Solskjaer has said the players need to be focused and switched on more when defending set pieces.
United have conceded some awkward goals from setpiece, and Solskjaer has advised the need to always try to make the first contact with the ball whenever the team is in a position to defend a set piece.
The Red Devils have conceded some really terrible goals from set pieces, with the latest being the equalising goal in the 3-3 draw against Everton recently.
And while the boss admits the defence have done well overall, he’s called for more to be done in the area of defending against corners and free kicks.
In his own words, “You know, we work on this week in and week out, before every game and it’s about doing your job and being focused, being switched on, winning your challenge and dropping off at the right moment or stay up when we’ve decided.
“Sometimes, we haven’t won the first header and most of them have ended up in a chance against us.
“We have actually got quite a good record in the first contacts, to win them, but when we haven’t, there have been chances and, most of the time, goals actually.”
