Manchester United defender, Teden Mengi, was among the starters, as Derby County beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 away from home.
And the on-loan star, didn’t disappoint his manager, as he ended up being their best defender on the pitch on the occasion.
Mengi, who started as a right-back, won four aerial duels, in addition to making one tackle and two interceptions.
His performance was an impressive one for an 18 year old, and after the game, Derby boss, Wayne Rooney, couldn’t help but appreciate the contribution.
Speaking to the media post-match, the former United striker said, “We knew they’d put balls into our box, so we went with the more physical options to try and not concede from set-plays and be brave on the ball. I thought Teden and Fozzy did well for us.”
