Van Gaal responds after Zaha claimed the Dutch tactician set him up to fail at Manchester United

Former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has hit out at criticisms over his spell at the club.

Wilfried Zaha recently blamed the Dutch tactician for setting him up to fail at Manchester United.

But Van Gaal insists he has not need to defend himself as he has had successes with younger players in his managerial career.

In an email to The Athletic, Louis van Gaal wrote: “I have absolutely no need to defend myself against so much injustice!

“The self-image of players leaves the wishes! And my career as a coach/manager shows just how many young players could take their chances under my leadership!

“With a kind box, LvG.”
