Manchester United legend, Bryan Robson has attributed Donny van de Beek’s ongoing struggles at Manchester United to the good forms of Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.
The Dutchman has struggled to play regularly since his move to Manchester United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has preferred playing more established midfielders like Fernandes and Pogba, and according to Robson, their good performances have hampered the progress of van de Beek.
Speaking recently in an interview, he said: “Some players take a little bit longer than other players.
“I think the problem for Donny, at the moment, is trying to impress the manager and get straight into the team when Bruno Fernandes has been playing magnificently.
“In the way he plays, they are very similar roles, and then the re-emergence of Paul Pogba over the last couple of months, before his injury, has been really good.
“Paul was playing how we know he can play and so that made it very difficult to get Donny into the team. But I’ve been impressed by some of his qualities.
“I can see he’s a worker; he’s just got to be a little bit patient. When he gets his chance [like against West Ham], he has got to impress Ole, as the manager.”
