Former Manchester United star, Luke Chadwick, has urged the club to go for Aston Villa’s jack Grealish, if Paul Pogba leaves Old Trafford this summer.
Pogba is tied to the Red Devils until the summer of 2022, but speculations about his future haven’t stopped, with his manager, Mino Raiola, and brother, Mathias, asking that United let him go or risk losing him for free.
And Chadwick, who insists the midfielder has been his best self in recent weeks is positive he’ll be missed if he decides to go, but believes Grealish would make a good replacement.
Speaking to Caught Offside recently, he said, “I think it would be disappointing if Paul Pogba left because he’s just coming into form and playing some of the best football he’s played.
“It’ll be interesting to see if Pogba goes, what they do with the finances. For me, the one player I’d look to break the bank for is Jack Grealish who has looked one of the best players in the Premier League for Aston Villa.
“If he was surrounded by the kind of calibre of player he would be at Man United I think he could be an absolute world-class player in a few years’ time. He looks to be positive every time he gets the ball. He can make things happen.”
Grealish came close to joining United last year, after a good season with Villa, and the Englishman has continued his rich form this season with some excellent performances for his team.
So far, there’s no official word on whether United will go for him this summer, but if that were to happen, he could cost us around £80 million.
