Solskjaer hails performance of his bench in Liverpool win

Manchester United beat Liverpool 3-2 at Old Trafford on Sunday, to send them packing from the FA Cup, and move to the next stage of the competition.

The Reds had taken the lead through Mohamed Salah early in the first, but it wasn’t for long, as Mason Greenwood pulled us level.

Marcus Rashford then, added another goal for United in the second half, to make it 2-1, before Salah scored a second for his side.

But Bruno Fernandes came off the bench, and changed the course of the encounter with a great free kick from just outside the box, to make it 3-2, but Solskjaer believes his substitutes played a role in the win.

He said, “I think if you ask Marcus [Rashford], the boys on the bench did a good job for him. If there was a crowd here I don’t think he would have seen it himself so a fantastic contribution by the bench, shouting, ‘switch, switch, switch!’ so he composed himself really well, Mason, he looked like it was going to bounce up for him and he had to wait for it.”
