Real Sociedad winger Adnan Januzaj has described his side’s Europa League round of 32 draw against Manchester United as a chance for him to return home.
The former United academy product burst onto the scene during David Moyes ill-fated reign in 2013.
The Belgian scored four times in 27 appearances during his breakthrough campaign in 2013/14 and then a further 21 times the following campaign under Louis van Gaal.
However, despite being handed Ryan Giggs’ famous number 11 shirt, Januzaj struggled to fulfil his early potential on several loan spells before leaving the club permanently to join Sociedad in 2017.
Januzaj has now reacted to the news he will return to Manchester United for the first time next year when Real Sociedad face his former club for a place in the last 16 of the Europa League.
“It is clear that I return home, where I have grown as a player, but my heart is now in Real Sociedad and I am going to do my best to get us through. I’m from La Real and I’m very happy to be here,” said Januzaj.
