Manchester United legend Owen Hargreaves has claimed manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doesn’t trust defensive duo Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.
The club have so far endured a difficult start to the season and are currently ninth in the Premier League table.
Former United midfielder Hagreaves feels the Norwegian’s use of defensive-minded midfielders Fred and Scott McTominay shows he can not rely on the defensive partnership of Maguire and Lindelof.
He told BT Sport: “[Bruno] Fernandes has been one of the most impactful signings ever at Manchester United.
“[Donny van de Beek is a smart player and I think he’s done well playing deeper, I think he can do that because he’s unselfish and doesn’t get caught in possession and plays quick.
“But I still think [Paul] Pogba has to play. You’ve got to find a way to get Pogba into the team.
“How do you do that with Donny and Fernandes and Martial and Cavani all in there now?
“It’s difficult for Solskjaer and I think he’s playing two sixes because he doesn’t trust the two centre backs.
“We saw what happened against Spurs [when Manchester United lost 6-1] , Ole’s not going to do that anymore.”
