Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire, has said Anthony Martial should have buried the golden opportunity he had to put the team in front against Paris Saint-Germain tonight.
With the game at 1-1, Martial was close.to sending us ahead, but the Frenchman somehow missed his chance.
The Ligue 1 side eventually took the lead and won the game 3-1, although Fred was also sent off in the second half.
Reacting to the match with the media, Maguire revealed his disappointment in Martial’s miss, and expressed optimism he will redeem himself this weekend.
“Yes, [Anthony Martial should’ve done better],” he said.
“But he’s scored plenty of goals over the years. He will be down in the changing room, but let’s hope he can get a goal on the weekend.
“Football is a game of fine margins and you have to be clinical and take your chances and not give them soft goals. They’re scrappy goals and they haven’t opened us up. We deserved something from the game.”
Man United, PSG and RB Leipzig all now have to win their next games, to ensure qualification for the round of 16.
