Solskjaer reveals reason for Anthony Martial’s absence against Southampton

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained the reason for Anthony Martial’s absence from the United squad that faced Southampton.

The Norwegian has revealed the Frenchman missed the game against Southampton after falling ill overnight.

He told MUTV: “Anthony [Martial] fell ill overnight so he’s in the hotel by himself, poor lad.”

On starting Mason Greenwood over Edinson Cavani, Ole said: “Edinson [Cavani] played well midweek, but we felt Mason [Greenwood] needed a game to start.”
