Manchester United defender, Eric Bailly has spilled the reason he said “No” to the Blue side of Manchester, before signing for us in 2016.
The Ivorian joined the Red Devils from Villarreal in what was José Mourinho’s first signing after his departure from Chelsea.
The talented defender recently shed more light on the move, while speaking in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, and according to him, the Portuguese coach played a big part in his decision to join the club.
He said, “In the summer of 2016 there were many rumours.
“I was in Ivory Coast, in the dining room at home with my mother when the phone rang. It was a Portuguese number; Mourinho.
“He told me to come with him, that he liked me since he saw me with Espanyol and Villarreal. Manchester City were also interested, but if Mourinho calls you, you can’t say no.”
If there’s one thing Mourinho has above many football managers, it’s got to be his ability to pull players to whatever club he manages.
